MJ takes action — athletes and celebrities react
A number of notable stars took notice of Michael Jordan’s comments and donations
Michael Jordan, known to many as the greatest basketball player of all time, is lifting his voice. The Charlotte Hornets owner, who was affected by gun violence when his father was murdered in 1993, is usually reserved about social issues. But he recently joined a growing list of other NBA and WNBA stars in speaking out about the recent shootings of black Americans and police.
In a one-page letter released exclusively to The Undefeated on Monday, he announced that he will donate $1 million each to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and the Institute for Community-Police Relations.
As the community attempts to heal and search for solutions to the long-brewing issues surrounding the slaying of black lives, killing of police officers and lack of legal resources, check out what other celebrities and athletes have to say on social media.

Instead of saying "It took MJ too long," consider that young people pushed this movement to a place where even *he* felt the need to act.
