Sports figures from all walks of life chimed in on the death of the 37-year-old Baton Rouge man

Whether it was a simple tweet including the hashtag #AltonSterling, or a more vocal response to the death of Alton Sterling, who was killed by a Baton Rouge, Louisiana, police officer in front of a convenience store on Tuesday, athletes from multiple sports had something to say.

Sports figures fell along the spectrum in terms of what they had to say:

And the struggle is not singular. Truly scary to watch the news this past week and recognize that the common thread is "lack of humanity."
— Chiney Ogwumike (@Chiney321) July 6, 2016
To lack humanity goes against the ESSENCE of our being. Humanity means consciousness, awareness &yet the cycle continues. Apathy= dangerous.

A prayer for peace and love spread around the world. #AltonSterling 🙏🏽
