Detroit police officers made us laugh with their dance moves

#RunningManChallenge accepted

Police officers sometimes have a hard edge, but some of Detroit’s finest can put a smile on your face.

The department posted a video to its Facebook page showcasing its cool dance moves. By Wednesday, the video had gone viral with more than 5 million views.

The police officers accepted the social media-craze #RunningManChallenge from the Los Angeles Police Department. Detroit, in turn, challenged the Cincinnati, Philadelphia and Chicago departments.

For 3 minutes and 53 seconds, the men and women in blue casually danced to My Boo by Ghost Town DJ’s.

“We are part of the community; we are Motown,” said Detroit police chief James Craig at a media gathering Tuesday. “This is really about the image of the city and the department. When people see that we’re human, they’re more willing to talk to us.”

Check out their smooth moves.
