Hall of Famer pleased that NBA players are standing up for change
Just two days before three police officers were slain in a shooting in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, TNT analyst and NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley appeared on TV One to chat with NewsOne Now host Roland Martin. The vocal TNT analyst shared his views on race, policing in America and NBA players standing up for change.
“I thought it was great,” Barkley said of Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Dwyane Wade, and LeBron James’ call to action during the opening of The ESPYS. “I think those guys are doing a good job … Anybody that thinks that was inappropriate – just tell them to shut the hell up.
“It’s easy to sit back and blame the cops. It’s easy to blame the protesters, it’s easy to blame the fathers – some of these bad fathers out there – but you as a man, what are you doing to make your community better?” Barkley said.
“Some of us got to do better,” said Barkley. “Everybody goes around talking about how black they are, but let me ask you a question: What are you actually doing for the black community?”
