Pretty much everyone outside of Brisbane, Australia, and boxer Jeff Horn’s team was caught off guard when Horn was declared winner by unanimous decision in his WBO world welterweight title fight against Manny Pacquiao.
Judge Waleska Roldan, 117-111 card, and judges Chris Flores and Ramon Cerdan, identical 115-113 cards, all ruled that Horn had beaten the 38-year-old Philippine native.
Athletes in basketball, boxing, football and more took to social media to voice their displeasure and disbelief regarding the outcome of the bout.
ESPN scored the fight 117-111 in favor of Pacquiao. ESPN ringside analyst Teddy Atlas also thought Pacquiao was victorious, by a 116-111 margin.
