Serena Williams trades tennis shoes for high heels at New York Fashion Week

The tennis star thrills the audience with her signature fall collection

If you thought tennis star Serena Williams would sit at home and sulk after losing to No. 10 seed Karolina Pliskova in the US Open semifinals, think again.

Nearly a week after the heartbreaking upset, Williams traded in her tennis shoes for designer heels in time to look glamorous for New York Fashion Week (NYFW), where she debuted the Serena Williams Signature Statement fall collection for the Home Shopping Network (HSN).

Her sister, Venus Williams, fashion mogul Anna Wintour, and close friends La La Anthony and Ciara were among some of the stars who sat front and center while models clad in Williams’ latest designs walked the runway. Williams’ 42 original and trendy pieces ranged from sexy jumpsuits and classy sweater dresses to winter jackets and coats, which were all made available for purchase on HSN’s website shortly after the fashion show.

This was Williams’ third collection for HSN. She walked the runway to debut her first spring collection at NYFW in the fall of 2014, and the collection was met with rave reviews.

“We do so much,” Williams told The New York Times after the show. “We birth, we sit in boardrooms, we do everything. We’re not praised enough. I want to praise every woman.”
