Serena Williams glides into French Open quarterfinals

Williams makes easy work of Elina Svitolina, 6-1, 6-1

It’s on to the next one for Serena Williams, the defending French Open champion, as she made light work of Ukrainian Elina Svitolina in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. It took her only one hour and two minutes of play.

Going into the quarters, Williams hasn’t lost in two months and has yet to surrender a set in this Open. She faces Russian Yulia Putintseva next. – Rhiannon Walker
