Ray Allen’s most undefeated 3-point plays

Ray Allen aka Jesus Shuttlesworth (the name of his character from the Spike Lee film He Got Game) announced his retirement from the NBA in a “letter to my younger self” on The Players’ Tribune on Tuesday. Now that he has officially called it quits, we can look back on some of his most noteworthy 3-pointers over the course of his career.

The shooting guard’s 2,973 career 3-pointers made, 413 more than anyone else to date, are the most in NBA history. Allen shot 89.4 percent from the free throw line, the seventh-best percentage in league history.

“I write this to you today as a 41-year-old man who is retiring from the game,” he said after a record-setting, Hall of Fame-worthy, 18-year career that he finished as one of the league’s most prolific shooters.

A 10-time All-Star and two-time NBA champion, Allen spent his career with four teams: the Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, Seattle SuperSonics and Milwaukee Bucks. He won a title with the Celtics in 2008 and one with the Heat in 2013.

“The men who you are going to win championships with are all going to be very different people,” he wrote. “What makes them champions is the boring old habits that nobody sees. They compete to see who can be the first to get to the gym and the last to leave.”
