‘Power’ recap: ‘Don’t Worry, Baby’

This is the episode we’ve all been waiting for.

Everything is set in motion, and we’re all on the edges of our seats. If Holly (Lucy Walters) has it her way, James “Ghost” St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick) is going down. Holly — you all love her so much, right?! — has actually put a hit out on Ghost, because she was sick of her boyfriend Tommy (Joseph Sikora) being slow to make anything happen. But hey, until recently, Ghost was his best friend, so pardon him if he has a bit of pause, honey.

For his part, Ghost is continuing his quest to make a legit go at being anything other than a murderous, drug-dealing kingpin. Good luck with that, bruh. And as for his relationship with Angela Valdes (Lela Loren)? It looks as if the reality doesn’t exactly measure up to the fantasy — and truthfully, that’s life and all, but, man, aren’t we all ready for them to just call this whole affair turned serious relationship quits?

Ghost wants his club business to pop — while attempting at the same time to manage a relationship between his wife Tasha (Naturi Naughton) and Angela Valdes. This struggle likely will last all season long, and the tension just continues to get thicker as we watch the uncomfortable push and pull between Ghost and Angela — even though they continue their hotter than hot, intimate love life.

And the mental anguish that Tommy goes through is brutal. He is clearly going back and forth — murder his lifelong best friend? Or avoid the kill altogether. It’s almost painful to watch him go through such an emotional breakdown. It’s even more so harrowing when we see the pressure Holly places on him to do so. What Tommy also doesn’t know is that Ghost saved his life. And strangely, Holly, for some odd reason, has yet to tell Tommy that she’s pregnant.

Biggest plot point in this episode — well, one of them anyway — is that federal officer Greg (Andy Bean) manages to track down one of Ghost’s old comrades, Ruiz (Luis Antonio Ramos), to persuade him (scare him, really) to testify against Lobos (Enrique Murciano). Kanan (50 Cent) is starting to feel like his old self again — back in the criminal element and eager to get back in the life. This show doesn’t care about our high blood pressure. Not one bit. And for what it’s worth, we’re fine that it does not care.
