The widow of Muhammad Ali is asking folks to volunteer 75 hours of service in her husband’s name
When the great boxer Muhammad Ali died on June 3 earlier this year, his wife Lonnie Ali had already begun planning for his 75th birthday next year, (which he sadly never reached). What do you get a man who seemingly has it all?
She knew Ali would deeply appreciate it, she told Bob Ley on Outside The Lines recently, if people would donate 75 hours of community service in honor of his birthday. She calls the program Ali 75.
“It’s as simple as taking your neighbor to the grocery who can’t drive or who’s infirm, or joining a 5K run,” Lonnie Ali said to Matt Lauer on NBC’s Today Show this week. “It can be anything you want to do.”
Participants in Ali 75 have all of next year to complete the 75 hours.
