Dwyane Wade is giving us his naked truth!
The Heat star revealed a sneak peek of his pose for ESPN’s 2016 Body Issue
After turning ESPN The Magazine down for seven years, the Miami Heat three-time NBA champion Dwyane Wade took to Instagram to announce that he finally agreed to show the world his nakedness.
Today the magazine announced that 10 men and nine women will appear in its 2016 Body Issue and Wade is one of the main characters in the plot.
Wade, 34, said he “stepped outside” his “comfort zone.” According to ESPN’s Morty Ain, the shooting guard said he refused to swim without his shirt on as a child.
He opened up to Ain about overcoming his body insecurities.
“To me, doing the Body Issue is bigger than looking at an athlete’s body,” Wade said. “It’s more about the story we are telling of overcoming my fear of doing this. I had a fear of being naked in front of others and a fear of being judged. So to me, overcoming that is the biggest thing. Someone may look at me and think, ‘Why would you have insecurity?’ Well, this is real life and I’m human, and these are the things that I deal with that many others might deal with.”
Wade joins UFC fighter Conor McGregor, Super Bowl MVP Von Miller and Chicago Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta in this year’s issue. The participants also include Team USA’s Chris Mosier, who will be the first transgender athlete to pose.
