Dwyane Wade hosts charity event in Miami
His efforts brought Miami citizens and police together

If you were in Miami last Saturday, you might have seen Chicago Bulls shooting guard Dwyane Wade riding a bike with a group of other riders. Yes, a bike. Wade organized an event as a way to bring parts of the community together. More than 1,000 members of the community and local police officers participated in a six-mile bike ride to raise awareness for community safety and promote peace.

Wade just lost a cousin to gun violence in Chicago last month. He was one of four NBA players whose call to action against gun violence and police shootings of black men highlighted July’s ESPYS.
My cousin was killed today in Chicago. Another act of senseless gun violence. 4 kids lost their mom for NO REASON. Unreal. #EnoughIsEnough

Wade and his mother, Jolinda Wade, were also part of An Undefeated Conversation: Athletes, Responsibility and Violence in August.
Dwyane Wade talks about the Great Migration. Don't see that often from an athlete. #UndefeatedConvo
