1, 2 Steps: Ciara and Russell Wilson walk down the aisle

The singer and Seattle Seahawks quarterback were married at an intimate wedding ceremony in England

Planning and executing a wedding are not easy tasks, even if the paparazzi and a salty ex-fiancé aren’t (allegedly) stalking the groom. But singer Ciara, 30, and NFL quarterback Russell Wilson, 27, managed to do the impossible by tying the knot on Wednesday during an intimate ceremony before family and friends at Peckforton Castle in Liverpool, England.

TMZ.com reported that 100 guests (celebrity friends Kelly Rowland, Jennifer Hudson and La La Anthony) were present to celebrate the nuptials. Rapper Future, Ciara’s ex-fiancé and the father of her 2-year-old son, Future Zahir, was apparently not among the attendees. The Austin, Texas-born bride wore a white strapless lace wedding gown by Roberto Cavalli. The custom dress was designed by the label’s creative director, Peter Dundas. Wilson wore an Armani tuxedo.

The paparazzi managed to snap photos of the couple on Tuesday evening as they made their way to a rehearsal dinner at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool. Ciara wore a floor-length, halter-style gown with a chiffon tulle skirt. The Seattle Seahawks quarterback was dressed in black, head to toe. The beautiful couple began dating in early 2015, and made their semiofficial coming out as a couple date that same year at the White House as President Barack Obama’s guests at the Japan state dinner. They announced their engagement on March 11 in an adorable “champagne on the beach” video that was posted on Wilson’s Instagram.

The wedding was held less than 48 hours after news surfaced that Ciara filed documents in a defamation lawsuit against Future, which claimed he made murder threats against Wilson.

This is the first marriage for Ciara. Wilson’s first marriage to Ashton Meem ended in divorce in 2014.
